Cave Creek Rodeo Days Mutton Bustin' Contestant Information

A longstanding tradition at rodeos across America, Mutton Bustin' is the art of a 4-7 year old riding a sheep across the arena.

Like last year, the event is held on the same day as the parade, at 12:30pm, in the Buffalo Chip Bull Riding arena in the heart of Cave Creek.

Cost is $10 per child, and protective gear and parental signatures are required (no exceptions)

  1. Parent or guardian must sign a waiver for child to participate
  2. Child will participate in the order and group in which they are signed up. If the child changes their mind or chooses not to ride, they will be scratched and no refunds given.
  3. Age (4 –7) and weight (under 75 lbs) limits will be enforced.
  4. All participants must wear protective head gear, (your own or ours), NO EXCEPTIONS.
  5. Parents and participants are to remain in the designated area until your group is called.
  6. One parent or guardian will be allowed into the arena with a participant, parent must stay behind the bucking chute.
  7. No entries will be accepted after the entries are closed (approximately 30 minutes after the event begins).
  8. All participants and parents or guardians will exit the arena after the participant rides.
  9. Rides will be judged by time only and decision of the judges is final.
